pop culture at its finest…

Wildly entertaining and shockingly hilarious, Alan Ball has turned Charlaine Harris’ vampire mystery novels into television’s most interesting show. The series revolves around Sookie Stackhouse, played by Anna Paquin, who is a beautiful and quirky telepathic barmaid living in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Her life gets turned upside when vampires ‘come out of the coffin’ and start co-existing with the human residents of her small town. Things really get going when she starts an unlikely romance with a 173 year old Civil War veteran and local vampire named Bill.

This show has been continually climbing in the ratings since its first season and for good reason. It offers the perfect combination of gore, lust and political satire. It provides a unique spin on pop culture that appeals to a broad range of audiences. Unlike so many vampire dramas, “True Blood” isn’t endlessly grim and full of angst; in fact some of the characters, especially Sookie, are downright cheery. Other Bon Temps residents include Sookie’s **** yet dumb bad-boy brother Jason, her sweet liberal boss Sam and her sarcastic, loud-mouthed best friend Tara. All the characters provide the plot with plenty of unique plot twists. Several new characters have also entered the scene this past season and are sure to wreak havoc in the upcoming third season. Most notably, Eric, a vampire sheriff and owner of the local vampire bar Fangtasia, presents an opening for a potential love triangle with Sookie and Bill.

“True Blood” certainly provides its audience with some classic vampire fair, including lots of gore and fangs; however it also offers a fresh take on the traditional vampire storyline. The third season is sure to offer plenty of surprising twists and turns as the show continues to distance itself from the original book series. Die hard fans will have to be patient though, as the third season isn’t set to air on HBO until June 2010. In case you missed a few episodes last season, you can always watch free tv shows online for free!

Dr.Team asked:

Kicking

There are many different ways of kicking the ball. In order to kick the ball to the direction that we want, it requires high level of skills. Kicking methods can be divided as follows;

Kick the ball by using foot instep

When using foot instep to kick, make sure that the foot you use be fully bent downward and the foot instep should fully touch the ball. Once the foot touch the ball, the ball have to skim to the ground. Importantly when you kick the ball, if position if the knee is too much lean forward to the ball’s position, the direction of the ball will heading down, and then touch the ground before it reach target, which effect to the ball speed. On the other hand, if the knee is too much lean backward to the ball’s position when kicking, the ball will rise up and not go to the desired direction. Therefore, you have to make sure that the knee is in the right direction, not too forward and backward. The foot that not use for kick, put it beside the ball and make sure it is away form the ball around 4-12 inches. Focus on the ball all the time you are kicking.

Run and kick

Run and kick is often use during the game and this method of kicking is quite difficult to do as you seem to have no time to do the kick exactly as instructions. However, The right position when you have to kick while you are running, make sure that you are close to the ball as much as possible. Put the standing foot beside the ball and bend down your knee a little bit, your shoulders and head slightly lean forward. Swing the leg that use for kick fully stretch. Your head should bend down until you kick the ball completely, and always focus on the target that you want to kick to ball to.

Kick the ball by using inside of the foot

This figure is the simplest method to kick the ball, often used when we need to pass the ball to others, because by using this method, you can control the direction of the ball completely and it has the most accuracy. To do this figure, bend down both of your knees a bit when kicking and push the kicking leg follow through after touch the ball.

Kick the ball by using heel

This method of kicking mostly used for trick the person who try to snatch the ball from you and this method is very simple. Firstly, you have to step or jump over the ball, pretending you want to carry the ball forward, then immediately use the heel to punch the ball, pass it to the back direction. This figure require a bit of skills and accuracy when you use heel to kick the ball, because at a time of kicking the ball will be at your back and will not be able to see it. So you need to estimate about the ball’s position in order to kick it correctly.

Dr.Varburg asked:

Slasher flicks are time and time again a guilt-ridden enjoyment for numerous movie arers. Yes, they won’t gather critics’ votes. They won’t get A+ scores from the movie media. They won’t even get C scores from home-grown internet pundits. Slasher flicks will always be shriek-filled tales with meaningless outlines.

But throughout the years, these slasher movies have carved – excuse the clever remark – a place of their own.

A large part of the success of these slasher flicks can be credited to the Friday the 13th series and its 15 manifestations. Friday the 13th is a chain of movies that starred a hockey mask-wearing psycho killer named Jason Voorhees. So popular is this series that it has become a core of pop culture, being recommended in many news channels for a good part of the newly completed century.

In 2009, a rerun of the series will be presented for the movie going enthusiasts to live through. One more time, fans of slasher flicks and individuals who are new to the variety will have face the father of slasher-premised films, this time reinvented for the latest generation.

Right, Jason Voorhees is about to make a return!

This time, he won’t be battling another movie fiend icon. He won’t be in space, freed from years of cryogenic deam. He won’t be warding off the dare of a female telepath.

In its place, we will behold, or re-behold, the nativity of a serial predator. We will discover the tale that produced a mess such as Jason Voorhees. We will witness him frighten the unfortunate travelers experiencing the hot waters of Camp Crystal Lake.

It’s 2009 and it’s time for another Friday the 13th!

The restore is directed by Marcus Nispel, who also directed the restore of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie will present Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees, with Jared Padalecki and Amanda Righetti playing the male and female mains, respectively.

The movie will be shown on a Friday the 13th, particularly February 13, 2009.

American Football vs European Football

George Wood asked:

American football is usually confused with European football. The difference between the two is greatly, but the same use of title can confuse others. The difference between American and European football is simple by definition. Football is used mostly with the hands to control the ball, and the European football is what most people call Soccer. In soccer, you kick the ball and they not allowed using their hands at all. By definition, football is when 11 players on a rectangular field 100 yards long. Teams try to steal/keep possession of the ball and move across the field to the other teams goal line by running a series of plays. European football or soccer is a game played with a round ball (not diamond shaped like American football).

Again, two teams of eleven players user their body to control the ball to pass the opponents goal line. Soccer is played dominantly with the feet, but can be controlled by other parts of the body like knees, chest, and head. They can use any part of their body by their arms and hands. If they do use the hands, a foul is called the other team gets control of the situation. They only people who are allowed to use their hands are the goalkeepers.

Many soccer games are played on football fields. They are set up the same way except instead of having a huge goal post, they use two goal nets (much like hockey). The games are in quarters that are times. There are four quarters per game and a half time. Usually there are only a minute or two pauses between quarters and the half time is much longer. Soccer games usually do not take as much time as soccer, because there are fewer rules to soccer.

Football is a complicated sport that has flags and penalties for, what seems everything. In soccer, penalties are called but mostly for being offsides or out of bounds. Sportsmanship is a problem in both sports. The two sports are very competitive and can be frustrating to the players. Even though you are not allowed to tackle a player purposely in soccer, some players do tend to collide and when they do, they hit hard.

Soccer and football are much alike in some aspects, but are completely different in others. Either way you look at it, the two sports are just as aggressive and competitive and can be very enjoyable to watch and play.
